The Atkins Diet has been around a long time, with a lot of research indicating that it is a viable weight loss alternative for some individuals.  Do you struggle with cravings for sugar and refined carbohydrates?  The Atkins Diet is excellent at retraining the body to enjoy eating the appropriate amount of carbohydrates and learning how to burn carbs rather than storing them.  This diet plan utilizes the body’s own amazing fat-burning mechanism called ketosis.  By limiting carbohydrates, the body is forced to tap into it’s own fat stores, which are really stored fuel.  When we overeat sugar or refined carbohydrates, the body immediately senses that there is too much sugar in the bloodstream and sends out insulin, the fat storage hormone, to deal with the sugar.
